NEW DELHI: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has made significant strides in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025, securing the 320th position in Asia and 81st in South Asia. This marks a notable improvement from the previous year, when the university was placed 143rd in South Asia and within the 500-550 range in Asia.
This leap is a testament to GGSIPU’s consistent efforts to enhance its academic standing, research capabilities, and international partnerships. In a highly competitive field of 984 universities across Asia, the university’s rise in the rankings reflects its commitment to providing quality education and fostering impactful research.
A Reflection of Strategic Growth
Professor Mahesh Verma, Vice-Chancellor of GGSIPU, expressed his satisfaction with the university’s improved position, emphasising the importance of collective effort in this achievement. “This recognition reflects our collective efforts to enhance research output, improve student learning outcomes, and engage effectively with global partners,” he said. He also noted that the rankings serve as validation of the university’s strategic vision and long-term goals.
GGSIPU’s improvement in the QS rankings can be attributed to its strong performance across several key metrics, including academic and employer reputation, papers per faculty, and international research networks. The university achieved a notable 136th rank in Asia for papers per faculty, underscoring its growing research productivity.
International Recognition for Global Engagement
In addition to its improved rankings, GGSIPU was honoured with the QS Recognition Award in the category of “Global Engagement – Performance Improvement.” This award acknowledges the university’s strides in building international research collaborations and fostering diversity within global research initiatives. Earlier this year, the university had also received the “Rising Star Award” in the QS World University Rankings 2025.
Professor Verma attributed much of this success to the university’s recent A++ NAAC accreditation, which has enhanced its reputation within the academic community. “Our aim is to build on this momentum and continue improving across all metrics—whether in research, teaching quality, or employability,” he said.
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, GGSIPU is focused on further strengthening its research capabilities and expanding its global outreach. “The QS recognition is not just an endpoint but a new beginning. With strategic initiatives in place, we are confident that we will continue to make meaningful progress in the coming years,” added Professor Verma.
The university remains committed to producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also equipped to meet the demands of a rapidly changing global job market. With a clear vision for future growth, GGSIPU is poised to build on its success and continue its upward trajectory in the academic world.
