More than 80% of BTech/Dual Degree students and over 75% of master’s degree students had been placed by April 30, 2024. The institute reported that 1,091 students were placed in 256 companies during the 2023-24 Phase I and Phase II campus placements. The median salary offered stood at Rs. 19.6 lakh, with the average reaching Rs. 22 lakh, underscoring the strong demand for IIT Madras graduates.

IIT Bombay achieved a higher placement rate and median salary peak in 2021-22, with 160 graduates placed at Rs. 20 lakh, compared to IIT Madras’s 426 graduates placed at Rs. 18.9 lakh. Additionally, IIT Madras had more students opting for higher education each year, highlighting its strong academic and placement performance.
